Overview of the Maintenance Engineer

2 Fawcett are recruiting a Maintenance Engineer for a fantastic company based in Derbyshire. The purpose of this role is to carry out maintenance, repair and positioning of Equipment throughout the site. The ideal candidate will be a multi skilled maintenance engineer with both electrical and mechanical experience.

Main Responsibilities of the Maintenance Engineer

  • Mechanical service, repair, replacement of: Motors, gearboxes, couplings, seals, pumps, valves, hydraulics, pneumatics etc.
  • Electrical service, repair, replacement of: Motors, sensors, valves, control gear, VSDs, servos, instrumentation, power distribution systems, safety systems etc.
  • Takes care of the electrical and mechanical settings, documenting them where possible.
  • Performs certain measurements, adjustments, tests and calibrations.
  • Identification and selection of suitable parts and spares for the task. Evaluates the possibility or the necessity of repairing or replacing components. Works with the parts coordinator to obtain and maintain stock levels and stores accuracy.
  • Make suggestions and propositions to improve the installations and to increase plant availability, quality and safety.
  • Gives technical support to operators.
  • Supports the projects department in the implementation of new equipment, plant or services.
  • Maintain control measurement equipment and weighing equipment.
  • Respects Company policy concerning hygiene and safety during activities.

Requirements of the Maintenance Engineer

  • Hold a engineering apprenticeship, HNC / HND or equivalent in Engineering
  • Building Services Experience: Boilers, air handling plant, refrigeration
  • Welding: Preferably TIG and Arc
  • Reads and interprets Electrical & Mechanical schematics diagrams.
  • Knowledge of different types of maintenance methodology; PPM, CBM, PM, TBM
  • Electronic diagnostics and repair to board level
  • Ability to restore and refurbish aged plant in accordance with current legislation and directives.
  • Documents and follows standardized practices, instructions and technical references to ensure proper execution of tasks with accurate activity recording.
  • Continuous evaluation of reliability and service requirements of machinery using OEM and historical breakdown data along with latest technology. Working with the manufacturer / supplier where necessary.
  • Communicates with all departments the status of work effectively and proactively.
  • Able to coordinate his / her own work schedule.
  • Contributes to the KPIs and budget adherence of the department

Working as the Maintenance Engineer

  • Salary of £36,000 with a Shift Premium paid monthly of £4700
  • 4x on, 4x off Shift pattern
