Role: Food Product Development Assistant
Salary: £25,000 – £27,000

Do you have previous experience within a food based product development role and are looking for an exciting opportunity to demonstrate your skillset and work for a market leading company? 2fawcett have an exciting opportunity for a product development assistant on a permanent, full time basis.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Understand the whole product lifecycle from conception through to implementation focusing production feasibility including scaling up
  • Analyse food trends to identify new products, both core range and seasonal lines
  • Presents new ideas to the NPD Team to gain permission to develop product lines Research patents, copyrights, and trademarks to make sure there are no infringement issues involved
  • Lead the product development process utilising the Bakery Teams’ knowledge and expertise where necessary
  • Identify ant packaging requirements and resolve with the Assistant bakery Operations Manager
  • Liaise with the office to generate product costings and to ensure that the ERP system is updated prior to any product launch
  • Systematically and methodically work through ironing out flaws in the product final design
  • In advance of a product launch ensure that new products are successfully added to NetSuite (the company’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system)
  • Work with the Quality Assurance department to ensure that product standard operating procedures (SOPs) are developed
  • Ensures that every phase of a project proceeds as scheduled during the product launch
  • Prepare cost analysis reports to review the implementation of a new product
  • Provide training support to production departments by sharing technical skill and experience to develop and improve individual skills
  • Support production needs, dependent on workload and seasonal demand


  • Prior Bakery and/or Savoury experience
  • Advanced Professional Cookery or equivalent
  • Food hygiene certificate. Minimum Foundation Food Hygiene Certificate
  • Project management and organisational skills
  • Sound logical decision-making process
  • Effective time-management skills to achieve targets
  • An excellent understanding of the manufacturing process
  • Ability to communicate and influence with all levels of the business
  • Logical problem solve
  • Good computer literacy, including competency with MS Word and Excel
