Role: Shift Leader

2fawcett are recruiting for a Shift Leader to join a well renowned food manufacturing business on a full time, permanent basis. Reporting to the Department Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day planning, coordination, and control of manufacturing processes within the department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Department Manager with planning of production times / yield expectation and shelf-life to meet customer demand and company objectives
  • Support other department heads with resource planning to maintain budgeted staffing levels dependent on fluctuating work levels
  • Organise production plans to attain optimum efficiency
  • Coordinate the workflow of ingredients / materials / packaging liaising to maintain stock and inventory levels
  • Ensure product traceability & labelling of all raw materials, parts, and finished goods is maintained throughout the manufacturing process
  • Ensure stock rotation is completed correctly
  • Assist the Department Manager with development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s)
  • Support upskilling through development and implementation of training plans and job rotation
  • Oversee product standards and process control to maintain product quality, consistency, and integrity
  • Ensure all employees / processes adhere to Health & Safety and Food Safety standards
  • Support the company’s NPD process and creation of innovative new products

About the candidate

  • In-depth knowledge of confectionery, breads & pastry production
  • A proven understanding of food manufacturing processes, production equipment and its impact on performance in terms of efficiency, quality, and ingredient usage
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team to maintain efficiencies and deliver company objectives
  • Excellent people management and coaching skills
  • Ability to critically think and problem solve
  • Effective time-management skills to achieve production targets
  • Computer literate
  • Management qualification preferred
  • Food Hygiene level 3


Monday – Friday, 5am – 2.30pm
