Role: Purchasing Assistant

Location: Rotherham

Salary: £23,400 – £26,700 depending on experience

Type: Temporary (6 months)

Hours: Monday – Friday 9am – 5.15pm

Role Overview

2fawcett have a great opportunity for a Purchasing Assistant to join a Distributor based in Rotherham. The Purchasing Assistant must have experience in a similar position and will play a vital role in supporting the procurement team to ensure the smooth and efficient flow of materials and supplies.

This role will be an exciting, varied and fast paced role and would be well suited for you if you have Purchasing experience and a background of either finance or administration and have excellent Excel Skills 

Role Responsibilities

– Strategically planning, executing, and expediting procurement activities

– Updating the team about any delays or problems with Far East Suppliers

– Following up with suppliers and maintaining relationship

– Raising Purchase Orders for both UK suppliers and Far East Suppliers

– Maintaining records of supplier contracts within the system

– Creating company reports for departmental meetings

– Filing delivery notes
– Utilizing spreadsheet tools for data analysis, reporting, and decision-making support
– Managing and updating Operating Systems to ensure optimal performance and functionality
– Handling container bookings and logistics with attention to detail and timeliness
– Performing various administrative tasks to support operational efficiency and organizational effectivenes


  • Proficiency in Excel. V Lookup, pivot tables
  • Ability to establish relationships with internal and external sources.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to perform in fast-paced environments, be flexible and open to change.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and telephone communication skills.
  • Understanding of Freight Shipment process from Far East
  • Analytical thinking skills
  • Self-Motivated.
