Position: HGV Mechanic

Overview: 2Fawcett are recruiting for a HGV Mechanic to join a leading company in the commercial vehicle industry, you’ll play a vital role in maintaining and servicing a diverse fleet of 130 heavy goods vehicles. Specializing in light commercial vehicles up to 13.5 tonnes, you’ll primarily work with brands such as Isuzu and DAF, utilizing provided tools to ensure optimal performance and safety standards. Salary: Salaried at £37,440 + Overtime Rate of T ½ + Bonus Pay + Shift Allowance  – AVG Take Home £45,000-£51,690

Hours: 0600-1430 (Week1) to 1330-2200 (Week2) + Overtime Availability and Optional Call Out Rota

Responsibilities & Requirements:

  • Perform routine maintenance and inspections on heavy goods vehicles (HGVs), including light commercial vehicles up to 13.5 tonnes.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues, utilizing diagnostic tools and equipment.
  • Conduct repairs and replacements of components such as engines, brakes, transmissions, and suspension systems.
  • Carry out preventative maintenance tasks to ensure the reliability and longevity of the fleet.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and regulations while working on HGVs to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Keep accurate records of maintenance and repair work performed, including parts used and hours worked.
  • Collaborate with other team members and departments to efficiently resolve issues and minimize vehicle downtime.
  • Stay updated on industry advancements, new technologies, and manufacturer guidelines to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean and organized workshop area to optimize productivity and workflow.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, drivers, and other staff members to address concerns and coordinate maintenance schedules.
