2fawcett Recruitment are delighted to be recruiting for an experienced Transport Planner on behalf of a well-established and growing logistics business based in Rotherham.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a respected transport operation that works with major customers across the construction, retail and industrial sectors. You’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring the efficient planning and coordination of daily transport activities, helping to deliver an outstanding service while maximising fleet utilisation and profitability.

The Role
As Transport Planner, your responsibilities will include:
- Planning and coordinating daily transport operations to maximise vehicle utilisation.
- Managing collections, deliveries and backloads across the UK.
- Arranging subcontract haulage where required whilst maintaining profitability and service levels.
- Liaising with drivers, warehouse teams and customers to resolve operational issues quickly and efficiently.
- Monitoring fleet performance and supporting the achievement of operational KPIs.
- Ensuring all transport planning systems and records remain accurate and up to date.
- Identifying opportunities to improve routing efficiency, planning processes and customer service.
- Making informed decisions under pressure to maintain operational performance.
- Supporting the wider operations team during busy periods to help achieve business objectives.
About You
To be successful in this role, you’ll ideally have:
- Previous experience within a Transport Planner position in a busy haulage or logistics environment.
- Excellent UK geographical knowledge.
- Experience planning transport operations across contract logistics.
- Strong IT skills, including Transport Management Systems (TMS) and Microsoft Office.
- Experience using SAP or other ERP systems would be advantageous.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- A customer-focused approach with strong commercial awareness.
- The ability to prioritise effectively and remain calm under pressure.
- A proactive, analytical and solutions-focused mindset.
- Experience within the construction sector would be beneficial, but is not essential.
