Job Title: Tax Specialist
Qualifications Required: ACCA (Fellow member – FCCA) or ACA qualified
Salary: Up to £84,000
Benefits: Hybrid working, 23 days holiday (Up to 28 with service), BUPA Healthcare
Location: Castle Donington (Hybrid Working)
Contract: 7-Month Fixed-Term Contract (with potential to become permanent)
Start Date: May 2026

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and commercially driven Tax Specialist to join a well-established business based in Castle Donington.

The main purpose of the role is to ensure effective financial operations, internal controls, compliance, and coordination with both subsidiary and group companies.

The successful candidate will bring strong technical expertise in tax, with the ability to oversee and manage corporate tax, VAT, and international tax matters effectively, along with experience in carrying out company secretarial responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Leadership & Strategy

  • Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with business objectives
  • Provide insightful financial analysis to support senior leadership decisions
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team

Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Manage the annual budgeting process and ongoing financial forecasting
  • Monitor performance against budgets and identify areas for improvement

Reporting & Financial Control

  • Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial reports
  • Present financial results to senior management and board stakeholders
  • Maintain strong internal controls and financial governance

Cash Flow & Risk Management

  • Manage cash flow, liquidity, and funding requirements
  • Identify and mitigate financial and operational risks

Compliance, Audit & Tax

  • Ensure compliance with all statutory, regulatory, and tax requirements
  • Oversee corporate tax, VAT, and international tax obligations
  • Manage internal and external audit processes
  • Monitor changes in legislation and assess potential impact

Corporate Governance

  • Support board processes, including preparation of papers and documentation
  • Ensure statutory filings and company records are maintained accurately
  • Provide guidance on governance and compliance best practices

Stakeholder Management

  • Build and maintain relationships with group companies, auditors, banks, and advisors
  • Act as a key finance contact for internal and external stakeholders
  • Support strategic initiatives, including potential acquisitions or growth projects

Process Improvement & Projects

  • Drive continuous improvement across finance systems and processes
  • Support automation and efficiency initiatives
  • Lead on ad hoc projects as required by senior leadership

Requirements

Essential:

  • ACCA (Fellow member – FCCA) or ACA qualified
  • In-depth knowledge of corporate tax, VAT, and international tax regulations
  • Company secretary experience
  • Internal or external audit or proven experience of Internal control
  • Experience operating at a senior finance level
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and analytical skills

Desirable:

  • SAO (Senior Accounting Officer) or similar experience
  • Payroll experience
