Stock Controller
Location: Mansfield
Salary: £30,000 – £35,000 per annum
Monday to Friday | Full-time

We are working on behalf of an established engineering business that is looking to appoint an experienced and organised Stock Controller to join their team.

This is a key role within the business, responsible for maintaining accurate stock levels, ensuring materials are available when required, and supporting the smooth running of both purchasing and production.

Working closely with the Purchasing Manager and Production Manager, you will play an important part in ensuring the right materials and components are available at the right time, while keeping stock levels and records accurate.

The Role

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing and maintaining accurate stock levels across the business
• Monitoring stock movements, usage and availability
• Carrying out regular stock checks and investigating discrepancies
• Working closely with the Purchasing Manager to identify purchasing requirements and avoid shortages
• Liaising with the Production Manager to ensure materials and components are available to meet production schedules
• Receiving, checking and booking incoming stock onto the relevant systems
• Ensuring stock is correctly labelled, stored and easily accessible
• Monitoring minimum and maximum stock levels and raising requirements where necessary
• Investigating stock variances and resolving discrepancies
• Maintaining accurate stock records and ensuring the system reflects physical stock
• Coordinating the movement of stock between locations and depots
• Occasionally visiting other company depots to check, move or reconcile stock
• Supporting the organisation and efficiency of the stores/stock area
• Preparing for and assisting with year-end stock takes
• Working with colleagues across purchasing, production, engineering and operations to resolve stock-related issues
• Identifying opportunities to improve stock control processes and reduce waste, shortages and excess stock
• Ensuring company procedures and health & safety requirements are followed at all times

About You

We are looking for someone who is organised, methodical and commercially aware, with previous experience in a stock control, inventory, stores or materials environment.

You will ideally have:

• Previous experience in stock control, inventory management, stores or a similar role
• Experience working within an engineering, manufacturing, industrial or technical environment would be advantageous
• Good attention to detail and a methodical approach to your work
• Strong communication and organisational skills
• The ability to work effectively with both other departments
• Good IT skills and confidence using stock management or ERP systems
• The ability to investigate discrepancies and find practical solutions
• A proactive approach, with the confidence to identify and highlight potential stock issues before they impact production
• The ability to work independently while also being a strong team player
• A valid driving licence would be advantageous due to occasional travel between depots

What’s on Offer
