The Role: Stock Controller
Location: Rotherham
Salary: £28,000 – £34,000 (depending on experience)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm

I am currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established manufacturing business for a Stock Controller to join their team.

This is a key position within the organisation, taking ownership of stock control and quality governance across the factory. The successful candidate will act as the central link between departments, ensuring stock movements are accurately recorded, monitored and controlled, supporting smooth operational performance.

The Role

You will be responsible for maintaining the accuracy and integrity of stock across the site, ensuring that system records consistently reflect physical inventory. This role requires close collaboration with operational teams and finance to maintain high standards of control and visibility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate, real-time records of all stock movements within the factory
  • Process daily stock transactions in line with operational activity
  • Act as the primary contact for stock-related queries across departments
  • Coordinate stock movements between operational areas, including wire, mesh, panels and other production departments
  • Work closely with the gatehouse team to ensure accurate booking-in of deliveries
  • Liaise with department managers to monitor stock usage and resolve discrepancies
  • Oversee quarantine stock, ensuring appropriate governance and traceability
  • Plan and conduct cycle counts, investigating and resolving any variances
  • Ensure alignment between physical stock and system data at all times
  • Support the Operational Accountant with reporting and stock data accuracy
  • Identify and contribute to improvements in stock control processes
  • Maintain compliance with internal procedures and controls
  • Assist with organised stock takes, ad-hoc checks and audits

Candidate Requirements

Essential Experience

  • Previous experience in stock control, inventory management, or a similar coordination role
  • Experience working within a manufacturing, warehouse, or factory environment
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel

Desirable

  • Experience using stock management or ERP systems
  • Understanding of quality control processes within manufacturing

  • Confident communicator, able to work across multiple teams
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to investigate discrepancies
