Where will you be working?

We are recruiting on behalf of our client, a leading provider of end-to-end energy infrastructure solutions covering:

  • Electricity transmission
  • Distribution
  • Renewable energy
  • EV
  • Metering
  • Home decarbonisation

This role sits within their Transmission & Renewables team, responsible for designing, building and commissioning substations up to 400kV. Their teams work across the construction and maintenance of transmission lines and substations, ensuring the safe, efficient and reliable delivery of power nationwide.

This is a hybrid role, with a combination of site work across England and Wales, office attendance and remote working.

What will you be doing?

As SHEQ Manager, you will lead the SHEQ performance across substation and renewable energy projects.

You’ll work closely with operational teams, ensuring a strategic, proactive and forward-thinking approach to all aspects of SHEQ. You’ll ensure compliance, drive continual improvement and support long-term relationships with key clients while delivering against agreed SHEQ plans and strategic targets.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading SHEQ performance across multiple transmission and renewables projects
  • Partnering with operational teams to embed a proactive SHEQ culture
  • Driving compliance and continuous improvement
  • Supporting client relationships, frameworks and strategic objectives
  • Leading and managing all incident and accident investigations
  • Completing full Root Cause Analysis reporting and follow-up actions
  • Championing innovation and new ways of working across project teams

What you’ll bring

  • Strong experience within the utilities and/or construction sectors
  • Confidence in engaging with clients and stakeholders at all levels
  • Ability to build deep understanding of client systems, priorities and objectives
  • Experience facilitating SHEQ and client meetings
  • Ability to resolve or escalate issues promptly and effectively
  • Visible health & safety behavioural leadership — acting as a role model to others
  • NEBOSH qualification (essential)
  • Full UK driving licence — travel required, including occasional overnight stays
