About the Company:
A leading UK infrastructure and technology contractor delivering complex works across the strategic road network is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join its commercial team. The business delivers a broad portfolio of specialist highways, technology, and civil engineering schemes and is known for its collaborative approach with National Highways and Tier-1 partners.
This position offers the opportunity to take ownership of key projects, operate with a high degree of autonomy, and work closely with client teams within National Highways offices.
The Role:
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all commercial aspects of assigned projects, ensuring effective cost control, contract compliance, and strong client engagement.
You will be based out of either Bristol or Basingstoke, with flexibility for hybrid working.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preparation, submission and agreement of Applications for Payment.
- Production and management of Cost Value Reconciliation (CVR) reports.
- Full Subcontractor Management, including procurement, assessment, variations and final accounts.
- Managing change control and early warnings.
- Preparing commercial reports for internal stakeholders.
- Acting as a client-facing commercial lead, representing the business professionally
- Working proactively within NEC4 frameworks (predominantly Option C and Option E).
- Using digital contract management tools such as CEMAR or equivalent online portal.
About You:
- Strong background as a QS or Senior QS within highways or civil engineering.
- Proven experience managing CVRs and subcontract packages, ideally over £5m.
- Solid working knowledge of NEC4 contracts, ideally Options C and E.
- Comfortable being self-sufficient, client-facing, and commercially accountable.
- Experienced with contract portals such as CEMAR or similar.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
