About the Company: 2fawcett Engineering is supporting a thriving client, in their search for a Senior Manufacturing Engineer. Our client is a rapidly growing company in the aerospace sector, known for its commitment to quality, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Overview: As a Senior Manufacturing Engineer, you will be instrumental in the New Product Introduction (NPI) of Machining & Fabrication packages, ensuring the application of Lean manufacturing techniques. You will manage products from conception to completion, work closely with production to optimize processes and reduce costs, and support daily engineering needs. Reporting directly to the Engineering Manager, you will also lead SQCDP meetings and collaborate on future-proofing projects and the industrialization of new technologies at the Derby site.

Responsibilities
- Team Leadership: Lead a small team of engineers, including Estimating, Programming, and Planning Engineers.
- New Product Introduction: Plan and manage the industrialization of new products from initial concept to full-scale production.
- Tooling Identification: Work with external subcontractors to source detailed quotes and solutions for tooling needs.
- Departmental Support: Provide troubleshooting support and guidance across various departments.
- Route Card & SOP Creation: Develop detailed route cards and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to guide manufacturing processes.
- Smooth Industrialization: Collaborate with departments to ensure smooth transitions from quoting to manufacturing and inspection.
- Product Implementation: Oversee the planning and execution of new product introductions, working closely with shop floor teams.
- Quality Assurance: Partner with the Quality team to manage Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), QRQCs, and rework schemes.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements and cost-saving opportunities.
- NCR Completion: Handle the submission and management of NCRs and concessions.
- Meeting Participation: Attend and contribute to weekly meetings and project reviews as necessary.
Requirements
- Project Management Experience: Proven experience in engineering project management, preferably within the aerospace sector.
- Engineering Expertise: Strong background in engineering, with knowledge of machining, fabrication, welding, and special processes.
- MRP System Proficiency: Experience in planning and creating route cards/job cards using MRP systems.
- Estimating Experience: Familiarity with the quoting process and the ability to oversee detailed RFQ returns.
- Technical Drawing Proficiency: Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings accurately.
- Customer Specifications Knowledge: Experience working with customer specifications and processes.
- Troubleshooting Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities and decision-making skills.
- Can-Do Attitude: Flexible and proactive approach to work, with a commitment to excellence.
- NPI & Lean Manufacturing: Knowledge and experience in NPI, Lean Manufacturing processes, FMEA, and APQP.
- Tooling & Fixture Knowledge: Understanding of tooling and fixture manufacturing, procurement, and control.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills across all levels of the organization.
- Microsoft Office Proficiency: Competence in using Microsoft Office tools.
- SOP Document Knowledge: Experience in creating and managing SOP documents and control plans.
