Role: Senior Accountant
Type: Full time, permanent
Salary: £40,000 – £60,000 (depending on experience)

2fawcett Recruitment are recruiting on behalf of a well-established and growing accountancy practice seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join their team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified or qualified-by-experience accountant looking to take the next step in their career within a progressive and supportive firm.

Our client works with a diverse portfolio of SME clients across a variety of sectors and is looking for an individual who can provide high-quality accounting services, build strong client relationships, and support the continued growth of the practice.

The Role

As Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of clients, preparing statutory accounts, overseeing tax compliance work, and providing proactive support and advice to business owners.

You will play a key role within the practice, acting as a trusted adviser to clients while supporting junior members of the team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing a portfolio of clients across a range of industries.
  • Preparing and reviewing statutory accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies.
  • Preparing corporation tax returns and supporting personal tax compliance work.
  • Reviewing bookkeeping and VAT returns.
  • Producing management accounts and financial reports.
  • Supporting clients with business planning, forecasting and financial insights.
  • Building and maintaining strong client relationships.
  • Managing client deadlines and ensuring compliance requirements are met.
  • Supervising and mentoring junior staff.
  • Assisting partners and directors with advisory projects and practice development.

Essential

  • ACA, ACCA qualified or qualified by experience.
  • Previous experience working within an accountancy practice.
  • Strong experience preparing statutory accounts.
  • Good understanding of corporation tax and compliance requirements.
  • Experience managing a client portfolio.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines.

Desirable

  • Experience reviewing junior team members’ work.
  • Knowledge of Xero, QuickBooks, Sage and cloud-based accounting systems.
  • Experience providing business advisory services to clients.
  • Familiarity with practice management software.
