Self-Employed Commercial Floor Layer

We are looking for experienced self-employed Commercial Floor Layers to join our clints team and work on commercial flooring projects across the West Midlands.

The successful candidates will have solid experience within the flooring industry, be confident using a range of hand and power tools, and be able to work to a high standard while following site health and safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare subfloors thoroughly by cleaning, levelling and carrying out any necessary repairs to ensure surfaces are suitable for flooring installation.
• Carry out mechanical floor preparation using the appropriate equipment.
• Accurately measure, mark and cut flooring materials using hand tools, power tools and project drawings/schematics.
• Install a range of commercial flooring products, including LVT, laminate, vinyl and carpet tiles, in line with project specifications.
• Safely and effectively operate power tools and flooring preparation equipment.
• Read and work from architectural drawings, plans and specifications to ensure accurate positioning, alignment and installation.
• Maintain a tidy, clean and safe working area throughout each project.
• Work professionally alongside colleagues and other trades, communicating effectively to ensure projects run smoothly and work is properly coordinated.
• Follow all relevant site rules, health and safety procedures and installation standards.

Requirements

• Valid CSCS Card – essential
• Full driving licence and own vehicle – essential
• Previous experience working as a floor layer, particularly within commercial environments.
• Confident and competent using a variety of hand tools.
• Good working knowledge of power tools and flooring preparation equipment.
• Strong understanding of health and safety procedures on commercial construction sites.
• Ability to read drawings, plans and flooring specifications.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Reliable, professional and able to work independently.
• Willingness to travel to different commercial sites across the West Midlands is highly desirable.

Experience

• Minimum 4 years’ flooring installation experience preferred
• Commercial flooring experience would be an advantage.
