Where will you be working?

We are recruiting on behalf of our client, a specialist provider of end-to-end energy infrastructure services across:

  • Electricity transmission
  • Distribution
  • Renewable energy
  • EV
  • Metering
  • Home decarbonisation

This role sits within their Transmission & Renewables team, responsible for designing, building and commissioning substations up to and including 400kV. Their teams construct and maintain transmission lines and substations, ensuring the efficient and reliable delivery of power across the UK.

This position is based in Pembroke, leading significant transmission infrastructure work.

 

What will you be doing?

As Project Director, you will take full ownership of multi-disciplinary project teams delivering the design, construction, extension and refurbishment of major transmission substations.

In this high-impact leadership role, you will:

  • Lead large-scale substation projects from concept through to completion
  • Ensure delivery aligns with client expectations, regulatory standards and strategic objectives
  • Develop clear and robust project plans, ensuring budgets, timelines and KPIs are consistently achieved
  • Monitor progress, adjust plans as needed, and maintain strong commercial performance
  • Identify project risks early, implementing mitigation strategies to maintain safety, compliance and efficiency
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including National Grid, subcontractors and suppliers
  • Provide visible leadership, motivating and mentoring project teams to deliver quality, safety and environmental excellence
  • Drive a culture of collaboration, innovation and continuous improvement

What you’ll bring:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Project Management or relevant discipline (Master’s is advantageous)
  • Approximately 15+ years’ experience delivering transmission projects or major high-voltage substation (400kV / 275kV) schemes
  • Strong technical understanding of electrical systems, grid connections and commissioning requirements
  • Proven track record of delivering major infrastructure projects on time, to budget and to high-quality standards
  • Excellent decision-making and problem-solving capabilities
  • Strong commercial awareness and financial management experience
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to lead, inspire and develop multi-disciplinary project teams
