About the Opportunity
2fawcett Infrastructure are recruiting on behalf of our client, a leading UK provider of energy and infrastructure solutions.
The business delivers end-to-end services in electricity transmission and distribution, renewable energy, EV charging, metering, and home energy projects.
Within the Electricity Transmission division, the team designs, builds, and commissions high-voltage substations up to 400 kV, as well as maintaining key transmission assets nationwide. Their work ensures the safe and reliable delivery of electricity across the UK’s growing power network.
This role offers the chance to influence major national infrastructure projects, supporting the development and negotiation of contracts that underpin the energy transition.
The position is UK-wide, with regular travel to client sites and regional offices.
What You’ll Be Doing
As Pre-Contract Commercial Manager, you’ll take the commercial lead through the tender and negotiation stages of high-value infrastructure projects. You’ll balance governance, risk and profitability while ensuring seamless handover into delivery.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading pre-tender due-diligence and commercial evaluation of new opportunities
- Negotiating contract terms that balance compliance, governance and commercial strength
- Reviewing and refining contract conditions, warranties and guarantees, resolving deviations with clients
- Preparing commercial summaries and supporting internal approval processes
- Collaborating with legal teams and clients to ensure clarity, compliance and alignment of interests
- Supporting bid development, assessing risk, and creating mitigation strategies
- Managing post-award handovers to delivery teams with accurate documentation
- Contributing to ongoing improvements in Health & Safety, Quality and Environmental standards
- Acting as a trusted commercial advisor to project, finance and operational teams
This is a strategic position suited to a commercially astute professional with strong contractual knowledge and stakeholder-management expertise.
What You’ll Bring
- Degree-level qualification or equivalent experience in commercial management, quantity surveying or related discipline
- Excellent negotiation, communication and presentation skills
- Detailed understanding of NEC and FIDIC contract forms and relevant contract law
- Proven experience in pre-contract or pre-construction commercial roles
- Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret complex tender documentation and pricing schedules
- Financially and commercially astute with sound judgement around risk and opportunity
- Knowledge of the electricity transmission or utilities sector (desirable)
- Collaborative approach with the ability to build trusted client relationships
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel
