We are currently recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join a leading team within the rail industry in Derby. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled and motivated individual to work on the maintenance, repair, and overhaul of mechanical systems on rolling stock in a busy and fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out mechanical fitting, maintenance, and repair work on rail vehicles and components
  • Diagnose faults and carry out effective repairs in line with engineering standards
  • Work with hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems
  • Interpret and work from engineering drawings, technical manuals, and work instructions
  • Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard of quality
  • Complete relevant documentation in line with company and industry procedures
  • Work collaboratively with engineering and production teams

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Fitter, ideally within the rail, automotive, aerospace, or heavy engineering sectors
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, hydraulics, and pneumatics
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
  • Relevant engineering qualification or apprenticeship (NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent preferred)
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Flexibility to work shifts if required
