We are currently recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join a leading team within the rail industry in Derby. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled and motivated individual to work on the maintenance, repair, and overhaul of mechanical systems on rolling stock in a busy and fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out mechanical fitting, maintenance, and repair work on rail vehicles and components
- Diagnose faults and carry out effective repairs in line with engineering standards
- Work with hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems
- Interpret and work from engineering drawings, technical manuals, and work instructions
- Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard of quality
- Complete relevant documentation in line with company and industry procedures
- Work collaboratively with engineering and production teams
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Mechanical Fitter, ideally within the rail, automotive, aerospace, or heavy engineering sectors
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, hydraulics, and pneumatics
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
- Relevant engineering qualification or apprenticeship (NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent preferred)
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Flexibility to work shifts if required
