Profile:

Our client specialise in Lifecycle Asset Management of our clients Structures through Structural Inspection, Investigation, Testing, NDT, Monitoring, Maintenance and Repair and Digital Surveying and Monitoring to all types of structural assets. We offer Nationwide coverage in the Highways, Rail, Ports, Waterways, Commercial/Industrial (buildings) and Utility sectors.

Title:

Lead Technician

Hours/Days:

40 hours per week over 5 days. You may be required to work additional hours as per the requirements of the company, including nights and occasional weekends. Lodging away will be required from time to time depending on works location.

Location:

Our head office is based in Ilkeston with Investigations team members also operating out of the Chesterfield office.  Nationwide works will be part of your exciting journey, requiring occasional nights, weekends and travel to fulfil the dynamic needs of our business.

Line Manager

Main Objectives:

As a Lead Technician, your primary focus will be on effective communication with clients, suppliers and third parties. Manage and supervise work packages involving structural inspections, investigations and testing. Take charge of on site project management, site safety, liaising with traffic management, liaising with safety staff, equipment arrangement and personnel allocation. Lead by example through staff mentoring and training, actively promoting innovation within the business and its services.

Diverse Duties:

Your responsibilities will encompass working in live and occupied buildings, navigating structural embankments, climbing fences and handling scaffold towers and generators. Execute tasks on carriages and motorways, often within temporary lane closures and on Mobile Elevated Working Platforms (MEWPs). Contribute to confined space inspections of culverts and drainage wells.

Enhancing Team Expertise:

Take on the challenge of enhancing the overall team expertise while spearheading the development of a new survey team. Through mentorship and training, elevate the skills of existing staff and guide a fresh survey team to strengthen our operational capacity.

Key Accountabilities (please note this is not an exhaustive list of duties but represents the main requirements of the role):

  • Lead site investigation contracts
  • Manage site teams as the lead supervisor to ensure timely and comprehensive completion of tasks
  • Report back to stakeholders of the project on daily works undertaken and issues raised.
  • Conduct intrusive and non-intrusive surveys
  • Develop junior staff within a collaborative team
  • Carry out structural surveys
  • Provide training to ensure all junior staff are fully competent and adhere to required test procedures
  • Foster the constant development of junior staff in all available tests, creating flexible and competent technicians
  • Embrace additional duties as needed for a holistic approach
