Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Field-Based Refrigeration Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of commercial and industrial refrigeration systems at client sites. The successful candidate will ensure all work is carried out to a high standard of safety and efficiency, while delivering excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform scheduled maintenance and emergency service repairs on commercial refrigeration systems.
- Install, commission, and test new refrigeration and cooling units.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot faults using manuals, schematics, and testing equipment.
- Maintain accurate service records, job sheets, and reports.
- Ensure all activities comply with relevant health and safety regulations and company standards.
- Provide technical advice and support to customers on-site.
- Maintain an organized van stock and ensure tools and equipment are in good working condition.
- Work independently or as part of a team across various customer sites, including retail, hospitality, and industrial settings.
- Participate in on-call rotation for emergency callouts, as required.
Key Requirements:
- Proven experience in refrigeration engineering, ideally field-based.
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning or equivalent.
- F-Gas certification (Category 1) – essential.
- Strong knowledge of commercial refrigeration systems including walk-in freezers, display cabinets, cold rooms, etc.
- Full UK driving licence – essential.
- Excellent diagnostic, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours and travel across multiple sites.
Desirable:
- Knowledge of HVAC systems and air conditioning units.
- Electrical qualifications (e.g., 17th/18th Edition).
- Experience working in retail environments.
