We are currently recruiting on behalf of our client, a well-established engineering business based in Chesterfield, who are looking to add an experienced Design Engineer to their growing team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Design Engineer with a background in heavy industrial environments who is looking to work on varied and technically challenging projects. Experience or exposure to automation systems would be highly beneficial.

The Role

As a Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing engineering solutions for industrial applications, working closely with production, project, and manufacturing teams to deliver high-quality designs from concept through to completion.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce detailed engineering designs and technical drawings.
• Develop innovative design solutions for heavy industrial equipment and systems.
• Work closely with manufacturing and project teams to ensure designs are practical and cost-effective.
• Support the delivery of projects from initial concept through to installation.
• Assist with continuous improvement initiatives and design modifications.
• Ensure all designs comply with relevant industry standards and customer specifications.
• Liaise with suppliers and customers where required.

About You

We’re looking for someone who has:

• Previous experience as a Design Engineer within a heavy industrial or manufacturing environment.
• Exposure to automation systems or automated machinery (preferred).
• Strong CAD experience (any mainstream package considered).
• A practical engineering mindset with excellent problem-solving skills.
• The ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative engineering team.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
