The Opportunity
2fawcett Infrastructure are recruiting on behalf of our client, a leading UK provider of integrated energy and infrastructure services.
Our client delivers large-scale transmission and renewables projects, specialising in the design, construction and commissioning of high-voltage substations and associated civil works. Their teams support both public and private sector clients on projects ranging from 66kV to 400kV, ensuring safe, high-quality and sustainable delivery across the energy network.
This role offers the opportunity to take a key leadership position on site within the South West region, helping deliver critical infrastructure that supports the UK’s transition to net zero.
What you’ll be doing
As Civils Site Manager, you’ll be the on-site lead responsible for day-to-day operations, ensuring the safe, efficient and high-quality delivery of major transmission and renewables projects.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing all on-site activities, including direct staff, subcontractors and suppliers
- Leading daily coordination, safety briefings and progress meetings
- Preparing and implementing Construction Phase Plans (CPPs), Site Quality Plans (SQPs) and RAMS
- Conducting site inspections in line with ITPs/ITCs to verify quality compliance
- Overseeing Temporary Works and liaising with the Temporary Works Coordinator
- Ensuring health, safety, environmental and quality standards are achieved and maintained
- Working with civil design teams to review constructability and resolve technical queries
- Managing procurement, budgets and resource allocation on site
- Programming and monitoring progress, reporting any variations to the project team
- Compiling handover documentation, including As-Built drawings and completion records
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys working on technically complex projects and thrives in an environment that demands strong leadership, coordination and problem-solving skills.
What you’ll bring
- Proven experience in electricity transmission or renewables civil construction (66kV–400kV)
- In-depth knowledge of NEC contracts, safety legislation and civil construction standards
- Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills
- Strong organisational ability and proficiency in MS Office tools
- Qualification in Civil Engineering or Construction Management
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel within the region
- Desirable: National Grid TP137/SR163 authorisation (current or previous)
- Ideally holds SMSTS, HSG47, TWS, First Aid, and NG NSI 8 certifications
