We are currently recruiting for an experienced Buyer to join a well-established precision engineering and manufacturing business based in Huddersfield.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong procurement background within highly regulated manufacturing environments such as Aerospace & Defence or Medical & Life Sciences.
The successful candidate will play a key role in managing supplier relationships, driving purchasing performance, and supporting operational delivery across a fast-paced engineering environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage procurement activities across a range of engineered and technical components.
- Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure quality, cost, and delivery targets are achieved.
- Negotiate pricing, lead times, and commercial agreements with suppliers.
- Monitor supplier performance and implement improvement plans where required.
- Expedite orders and manage delivery schedules to support production requirements.
- Raise purchase orders and requests for quotation (RFQs).
- Work closely with internal departments including operations, planning, quality, and finance.
- Resolve supplier non-conformance and invoice query issues.
- Maintain accurate ERP/MRP system data including lead times, pricing, and supplier information.
- Identify supply chain risks and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Candidate Requirements:
- Previous buying / procurement experience within Aerospace & Defence or Medical & Life Sciences manufacturing environments.
- Strong understanding of engineering or technical supply chains.
- Experience working with ERP/MRP systems.
- Commercially astute with strong negotiation skills.
- Able to manage supplier relationships effectively.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- Experience within regulated manufacturing environments would be highly advantageous.
- CIPS qualification or working towards would be beneficial.
