The Opportunity

A long-established food manufacturer is seeking an experienced and proactive Bakery Manager to oversee its bakery and cooked products operations, including ovens, hot meats, pies, and cheese preparation.

This is a senior, hands-on management role within a busy production environment. You will take ownership of departmental performance, ensuring quality, compliance, efficiency, and team development remain at the highest standard.

Key Responsibilities

You will have full operational responsibility for the bakery and cooked foods departments, including:

• Overseeing daily production activities to meet customer demand
• Planning schedules and managing workflow to maximise efficiency
• Leading, coaching and developing production staff
• Maintaining strict hygiene standards in line with internal schedules
• Ensuring full HACCP compliance and food safety adherence
• Managing Health & Safety procedures, including risk assessments
• Controlling stock levels and coordinating with purchasing
• Supporting new product development in collaboration with senior production leadership
• Keeping recipes, product specifications and allergen documentation accurate and current
• Monitoring departmental costs and improving production performance
• Procuring goods and managing supplier relationships

In essence, you will take full ownership of standards, team leadership, compliance, and output within the department.

About You

Essential Requirements:

• Proven experience managing and leading teams
• Background in a food manufacturing or production environment
• Strong understanding of high-care or high-risk food production
• HACCP certification
• Level 3 Food Safety qualification (or willingness to obtain)

Desirable Experience:

• Knowledge of bakery operations
• Experience with cooked meats, pie production, oven work and cooling processes
• Technical understanding of food manufacturing systems
• Stock management and production planning expertise
• Working knowledge of Health & Safety legislation
