Job Title: Accounts Payable Assistant
Location: Duddeston, Birmingham
Pay Rate: £13 p/h
Type: Permanent, Full-Time, On Site
Working Hours: Monday – Friday, 9:30am-6.30pm (40 hours p/w)

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an ambitious individual looking to build a career in accounts payable with a successful and expanding manufacturing company based in Birmingham.

You will support the finance team by managing day-to-day administrative tasks for both ledgers including purchase ledger for suppliers and sales ledger for customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process, verify, and accurately code a high volume of purchase invoices and credit notes from multiple suppliers.
  • Utilise automated invoice upload systems to improve processing efficiency and accuracy.
  • Investigate and resolve invoice discrepancies by matching purchase orders, delivery notes, and supplier invoices.
  • Obtain invoice approvals from department managers, ensuring compliance with company procedures.
  • Prepare weekly supplier payment reports for the CFO and support payment uploads to the banking system.
  • Issue remittance advices to suppliers and allocate payments accurately within supplier accounts.
  • Support the finance team by checking sales orders and raising daily sales invoices.
  • Maintain accurate financial records while ensuring deadlines and month-end requirements are met.
  • Build positive relationships with suppliers and internal departments to resolve queries promptly and efficiently.

What Were Looking For:

  • GCSE Mathematics (Grade 4/C or above) or equivalent qualification
  • Willingness to learn, driven, and self-motivated mindset
  • Some experience using Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Confident communicator, able to build positive relationships with suppliers and colleagues while resolving queries professionally
  • Team player with the ability to work independently

Desirable:

  • A qualification in AAT
