Job Title: Accounts Manager – Construction Industry

Salary: Up to £40,000 (dependant on experience)

Location: Derby

Type: Permanent, Full-Time, Office-Based

Working Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 5:00pm (some flexibility around working hours can be offered if required)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Accounts Manager to join a well-established construction business based in Derby. This role is ideal for an experienced finance professional with strong construction industry knowledge, who will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day management of the finance function while ensuring compliance with CIS, Domestic Reverse Charge VAT, and HMRC regulations.

Responsibilities

• Processing purchase and subcontractor invoices for construction projects
• Managing subcontractor payments, ensuring CIS compliance
• Preparing and submitting monthly CIS returns and VAT returns, including Domestic Reverse Charge VAT
• Ensure compliance with HMRC and construction industry regulations
• Support month-end and year-end accounting processes
• Training and mentoring finance staff
• Oversee three finance team staff
• Provide wider support to the finance team and contribute to ad hoc finance tasks as required

Requirements

• Experience working as an accounts manager or in a similar senior finance role
• Previous experience working within the construction sector
• Previous experience managing a finance team (desirable)
• Strong working knowledge of Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) processes and
• Good Excel skills
• A hardworking individual with a strong work ethic
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks
• Excellent organisational and time management skills
