Job Title: Accounts Assistant

Salary: Up to £35,000 (dependant on experience)

Location: Derby

Type: Permanent, Full-Time, Office-Based

Industry: Construction

Working Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 5:00pm (some flexibility around working hours can be offered)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Accounts Assistant to join a well-established construction business based in Derby.

This role is ideal for an experienced Accounts Assistant with a background working in the construction industry, who will provide essential support across the day-to-day finance function, including invoice processing and ensuring compliance with CIS and HMRC regulations.

The Role & Responsibilities

  • Process purchase and subcontractor invoices for construction projects
  • Raise sales/customer invoices
  • Process payroll, subcontractor payments
  • Prepare and submit CIS returns and VAT returns
  • Ensure compliance with HMRC and construction industry regulations
  • Support month-end and year-end accounting processes
  • Provide wider support to the finance team and contribute to ad hoc finance tasks as required

Requirements

  • Experience working as an Accounts Assistant or similar role
  • Previous experience working within the construction sector
  • Strong working knowledge of Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) processes
  • Good Excel skills
  • A hardworking individual with a strong work ethic
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
