2fawcett is recruiting a Accountant to join an established SME based in Leicester on a permanent basis. This pivotal role is perfect for a proactive finance professional who can independently manage financial processes, streamline procedures, and drive continuous improvements across the finance function.

This is a rare opportunity to build the finance function from the ground up within a established and supportive company. You’ll have full autonomy to shape financial processes, implement best practices, and make a tangible impact on the business’s future success.

The Role & Responsibilities of the Accountant:

  • Management Reporting: Deliver timely monthly management accounts, variance analysis, and weekly P&Ls with clear commentary to support operational decisions.
  • Financial Analysis: Conduct in-depth financial analysis to identify trends, support performance improvement, and provide actionable insights.
  • Strategic Insight: Provide financial insights to aid senior leadership in strategic planning and decision-making.
  • Reconciliations: Oversee balance sheet and bank reconciliations, ensuring timely resolution of reconciling items.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Support annual budgets, planning cycles, and maintain accurate cash flow forecasts.
  • Invoice Finance & VAT: Manage invoice finance reconciliations and support VAT return preparation to ensure compliance.
  • Month-End Close: Lead month-end close processes, present to senior management team ensure accurate and efficient reporting.

 

About You:

  • Strong process implementation and financial analysis skills are essential.
  • Previous experience in a similar role, ideally within a small finance team or in a standalone capacity.
  • Formal accounting qualifications are a bonus, but we welcome candidates qualified by experience.
  • High level of numeracy and IT literate.
  • Proficiency in accounting software.
  • Strong knowledge of accounts payable processes and financial management principles.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills are crucial for maintaining accurate records.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with various stakeholders across the organisation.
