Overview of the Senior Solutions Engineer

2fawcett are recruiting for a Senior Solutions Engineer. Working closely with the Sales Team to prepare quotes and proposals, the Senior Solutions Engineer will assist across all Solutions and design activities and will provide technical expertise to support the sales process. The role requires a high degree of attention to detail, organisation, and time management. Developing and maintaining strong internal and external relationships is a critical measure of success.
The Senior Solutions Engineer will perform a front-line role and must therefore be well presented and confident communicating with a variety of both internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities of the Senior Solutions Engineer

  • Co-ordinate and prepare bespoke security system designs utilising the companies product portfolio to a pre-defined specification
  • Prepare quotes and proposals
  • Write system descriptions and compelling bids
  • Write technical compliance documents
  • Review and comment on tender specifications
  • Track software support contracts and prepare contract renewals
  • Keep records of activity in the CRM system
  • Attend meetings with the client and take a proactive role in managing day to day issues / queries arising from the system design
  • Supply technical information on the companies product range
  • Calculate VA/Margin
  • Calculate and communicate realistic turnaround time for proposals
  • Apply standard cost models to systems designs
  • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of costed bills of material
  • Create technical write-ups for system proposals
  • Detail caveats and assumptions
  • Prepare provisional project timetables
  • Deliver presentations and demonstrations of solutions

Requirements of the Senior Solutions Engineer

This is a technical role working with bespoke software and hardware. A good level of commercial awareness is required and can be developed within the role. The relevant candidate should be able to demonstrate experience of Security and Surveillance system design. Below are examples of the necessary required skills.

  • Strong client focus – ability to operate at prime customer contact level
  • Ability to analyse information and identify key points for requirements of proposals
  • Demonstrate a breadth and depth of system design expertise
  • Self-starter who can multi-task
  • A strong willingness to accept ownership and responsibility
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
  • Ability to influence and communicate effectively across multiple sectors
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong analytical mind-set with excellent organisational skills
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a technical role preferably in an international environment
  • Relevant proposal creation experience for vendors of turnkey solutions, with a software bias
  • Excellent negotiation skills, planning, scheduling, written and communication skills
  • Highly computer literate in Microsoft Office products
  • Experience of one or more product categories -Video Surveillance, Command and Control, Integrated Security Management / PSIM platforms
  • IT Networking and / or telecommunications market experience
  • Proven experience of both theoretical and practical aspects of system design inclusive of techniques and tools
  • Documentation governance
