Job Title: Senior Accountant

Pay:£50,000-£60,000 (negotiable on experience & qualifications already achieved)

Type: Full time, permanent, office based

Working Hours: 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM (half an hour lunch break), Monday to Friday.

We are currently supporting an expanding property company in their search for an experienced, commercially minded Senior Accountant to join their close-knit, dynamic, and friendly team in Bakewell.

The Role:
You will be responsible for producing accurate and insightful management accounts, forecasts, and financial analysis for multiple businesses within the group. The role combines hands-on transactional accounting with higher-level reporting and is ideal for someone who enjoys working across diverse financial projects and managing group accounts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and present monthly management accounts, including variance analysis and commentary, for several businesses.
  • Process and oversee transactional accounting: purchase ledger, sales ledger, and general ledger entries.
  • Develop budgets, forecasts, and long-term financial models for different projects.
  • Monitor cash flow and project costs to ensure profitability and financial control.
  • Assist with audits, liaising with external auditors, and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Mentor junior finance staff and maintain high standards across the finance team.
  • Provide ad hoc financial analysis, investment appraisals, and scenario planning.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Qualified Accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA) with post-qualification experience, although finalists nearing completion of their CIMA or ACCA studies will also be considered.
  • Strong management accounting experience, ideally in property, or manufacturing.
  • Strategic mindset: Able to look beyond the day-to-day transactional accounting, providing insights and recommendations that support business growth and decision-making across multiple entities.
  • Ideally, you will have experience managing a group accounts function, though this is not essential.
  • Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with accounting software (Sage, Xero, or similar).
  • Excellent communicator, able to present financial information clearly to senior stakeholders.
  • Highly organised, proactive, detail-driven, and able to meet tight deadlines.
  • Driving license required due to travelling to different sites when required.
