Salary: £28,000 per annum
Location: Burton upon Trent
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm (1-hour lunch break)
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Driving Licence: UK Driving Licence required

 

Role Overview:

We are recruiting a motivated and organised Purchasing & Supplier Coordinator to support the management and growth of a nationwide network of external transport providers. Reporting into the Supplier Management function, this position offers an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term career within the transport and logistics sector.

You will be involved in sourcing, onboarding, and maintaining relationships with third-party carriers while ensuring compliance, performance, and service standards are consistently met.

 

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

Supplier Relationship Support

  • Assist in identifying and engaging new transport suppliers to meet business demand.
  • Help strengthen and expand existing supplier partnerships in line with operational goals.
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams to align supplier capabilities with service requirements.

Supplier Onboarding & Compliance

  • Support supplier approval and onboarding processes following internal procedures.
  • Set up and maintain supplier records within internal systems.
  • Monitor supplier compliance using approved compliance databases.
  • Support ongoing performance reviews, ensuring suppliers meet policy and quality standards.

Carrier Coordination

  • Assist with sourcing suitable transport providers for varied transport requirements.
  • Act as a point of contact for carriers, ensuring clear communication and service continuity.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders to resolve issues and maintain smooth operations.

 

About You:

  • Strong communication skills with the confidence to work with external suppliers.
  • Well organised with good attention to detail.
  • Experience in transport or logistics is beneficial but not essential.
  • Willingness to learn, develop commercial awareness, and build negotiation skills.
  • Able to manage multiple priorities and work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Holds a valid UK driving licence.
