The Role & Responsibilities of the Management Accountant
- Monthly Management Accounts: Manage the month-end process to ensure timely and accurate preparation of monthly management accounts, including variance analysis and robust balance sheet reconciliations.
- Weekly P&Ls: Prepare and analyse weekly P&L, investigating and communicating variances and trends to the operations team.
- Financial Insights: Offer key financial and commercial insights to support business decisions.
- Balance Sheet & Bank Reconciliation: Prepare and review balance sheet account & bank reconciliations, addressing reconciling items promptly.
- Budgeting and Planning: Support the budgeting and planning cycles, providing critical financial data and analysis.
- Risk Management: Regularly discuss risks and opportunities with the Finance Director, taking a proactive approach to resolve any issues.
- Cash Flow Forecasting: Develop and maintain cash flow forecasts to support strategic decision-making and ensure financial stability.
- Invoice Finance Management: Oversee invoice finance processes, ensuring accurate reconciliations and effective management.
- VAT Compliance: Assist in preparing and submitting VAT returns, maintaining compliance with regulations.
- Month-End Support: Play a key role in month-end processes, ensuring accurate reporting and smooth operations.
