Overview:
This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on and ambitious Junior Machine Setter to join a forward-thinking manufacturing business working with bespoke machinery. Ideal for someone keen to understand how a full-scale production facility operates from the ground up, this role offers a direct path to becoming a Production Manager. You’ll receive in-depth training across all areas of technical machine setup, programming, and production planning.
Responsibilities:
- Set up and configure a variety of bespoke production machinery
- Work with programmed machines and assist in machine programming as you learn
- Support in technical planning and preparation of manufacturing orders
- Prioritise production schedules and ensure machines run to plan
- Gain exposure to full production workflows and operational logistics
- Collaborate with senior engineers and production leaders
- Assist with troubleshooting machine setup issues and process bottlenecks
- Learn how to interpret technical drawings and production documentation
- Play a key role in day-to-day production performance and output
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives on the shop floor
Requirements:
- A strong interest in mechanical or manufacturing engineering
- Hands-on mindset with a willingness to learn and take initiative
- Some experience in a factory, workshop, or technical environment preferred
- Ability to follow instructions and absorb technical information
- Proactive and organised with a desire to progress within a business
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality
- Good communication and problem-solving skills
- Technical qualification or relevant practical experience advantageous
