Job Title: Finance Systems Analyst

Job Summary
A well-established and fast-growing consumer goods company in Leicester is seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Finance Systems Analyst to join its finance team. This is a pivotal role acting as the key interface between the Finance and IT functions. Our client is a family-owned business and supplies a broad range of products to leading retailers throughout the UK and Europe.
The successful candidate will lead the continuous improvement, optimisation, and effective deployment of financial systems — particularly Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central (BC).
Key Responsibilities
System Improvement & Project Management
- Act as the main liaison between Finance users, IT teams, external consultants, tax advisors, and auditors, translating complex business needs into actionable system solutions.
- Lead and contribute to end-to-end Finance systems projects, including upgrades, integrations, and localisation initiatives (e.g. adapting Business Central to meet regional tax and regulatory standards).
- Conduct requirements gathering, scope definition, and documentation for new functionalities, enhancements, and process improvements.
- Identify and resolve inefficiencies within existing systems and workflows, implementing sustainable long-term solutions.
Stakeholder Management & Training
- Develop and deliver training materials and sessions for Finance teams to support system adoption and best practice.
- Coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT), including test planning, execution, issue management, and resolution.
- Serve as the Finance Systems Subject Matter Expert (SME), ensuring data integrity and efficient process flows within Business Central.
System Maintenance & Documentation
- Maintain detailed documentation, including process maps, configuration records, and change management logs.
- Support month-end and year-end close processes by ensuring system readiness and addressing potential system-related challenges proactively.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience as a Systems Accountant, Finance Systems Analyst, or in a similar role focused on project delivery and continuous improvement.
- Strong practical experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central (BC) in a configuration, implementation, or support capacity.
- Solid financial understanding supported by a relevant accounting qualification (part-qualified or qualified) or substantial finance experience.
- Proficiency in business analysis methodologies, including requirements gathering, process mapping, and documentation.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and communicate effectively across all levels of the organisation.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical users.
Desirable
- Working knowledge of reporting and analytics tools integrated with Business Central (e.g., Power BI).
- Experienced in implementing ERP localisation projects, including statutory reporting and tax/VAT setup for various international markets such as Germany.
