Overview and Initial Information
A well-established manufacturing business in Chesterfield is seeking an experienced Export Account Manager to join their commercial team. This role focuses on managing key aerospace export accounts, driving profitability and maintaining high customer service standards.
Reporting to the Lead Contract Account Manager, you’ll play a central role in negotiating, developing, and overseeing customer relationships, while identifying new commercial opportunities in a fast-paced export environment.
This is an initial six-month secondment with the potential to become permanent.
About You
You’ll have solid experience in export sales, ideally within aerospace or metals. You’re commercially sharp, confident with client management, and proactive in spotting opportunities to grow revenue and improve service.
- Previous experience in export sales (Aerospace sector desirable)
- Proven ability to build and maintain customer relationships
- Strong negotiation and communication skills
- Commercially aware with profit-focused mindset
- Detail-oriented and organised with excellent admin skills
- Comfortable working under pressure to deadlines
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and CRM systems
- Knowledge of international trade, Incoterms, and logistics beneficial
Role Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of export aerospace clients, acting as their main point of contact
- Develop sales strategy and forecasts in line with commercial targets
- Issue quotations, handle enquiries, and monitor outstanding sales/service queries
- Track and report on customer performance (sales, OTD, stock, issues)
- Maximise profit from existing and new customer accounts
- Maintain up-to-date market knowledge and flag risks or opportunities
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure smooth order delivery
- Provide ongoing admin to support payments and account management
- Attend customer meetings, Very Infrequent travel sometimes required
