Key Expectations of the Role:

This position is ideal for someone who’s not only confident in the foundations of finance, but also ready to take real ownership of the month-end process – up to the point of review.

 

You’ll need to have experience of:

  • Calculating and posting journals.
  • Carrying out an initial P&L review across multiple months.
  • Identifying and investigating anomalies – is something coded incorrectly? Are invoices missing?
  • Using Excel confidently outside of any accounting software – with a strong handle on lookups, pivot tables, and basic formulas (e.g. percentages and variances).
  • Perform bank reconciliations for two business accounts.
  • Manage rent accounting across a varied property portfolio (owned, leased, sub-leased).
  • Track and manage rent invoices and business rates across multiple sites.
  • Prepare weekly trading reports, including sales and cost estimates for the Senior Team.
  • Support the preparation of monthly management accounts and reporting packs.
  • Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Process prepayments, accruals, commissions, and maintain the general ledger.
  • Provide accurate financial data to support annual audit requirements.


What We’re Looking For:

  • AAT Level 4 qualified or actively studying towards it.
  • Strong Excel skills – VLOOKUP, HLOOKUP, Pivot Tables essential.
  • Solid purchase ledger background and understanding of nominal coding.
  • Some experience with accruals, prepayments, and reconciliations.
  • A self-starter who enjoys investigating issues and suggesting improvements.
  • A collaborative team player with a positive, can-do attitude.


Hours of work:
Monday – Friday (8.30am to 5.00pm).
