Key Expectations of the Role:
This position is ideal for someone who’s not only confident in the foundations of finance, but also ready to take real ownership of the month-end process – up to the point of review.
You’ll need to have experience of:
- Calculating and posting journals.
- Carrying out an initial P&L review across multiple months.
- Identifying and investigating anomalies – is something coded incorrectly? Are invoices missing?
- Using Excel confidently outside of any accounting software – with a strong handle on lookups, pivot tables, and basic formulas (e.g. percentages and variances).
- Perform bank reconciliations for two business accounts.
- Manage rent accounting across a varied property portfolio (owned, leased, sub-leased).
- Track and manage rent invoices and business rates across multiple sites.
- Prepare weekly trading reports, including sales and cost estimates for the Senior Team.
- Support the preparation of monthly management accounts and reporting packs.
- Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
- Process prepayments, accruals, commissions, and maintain the general ledger.
- Provide accurate financial data to support annual audit requirements.
What We’re Looking For:
- AAT Level 4 qualified or actively studying towards it.
- Strong Excel skills – VLOOKUP, HLOOKUP, Pivot Tables essential.
- Solid purchase ledger background and understanding of nominal coding.
- Some experience with accruals, prepayments, and reconciliations.
- A self-starter who enjoys investigating issues and suggesting improvements.
- A collaborative team player with a positive, can-do attitude.
Hours of work: Monday – Friday (8.30am to 5.00pm).
